It is time to elect new leadership to bring much needed change to Clayton County Superior Court. I bring nearly 15 years of judicial experience with me to this position. A current student pursing a Master’s in Judicial Studies, I am well versed in the law, rules, procedures, policy, and practices. My philosophy is justice tempered with fairness, integrity, and compassion.
As a single-mother, with a front row seat to the challenges and perils of growing up in current society, I want to ensure youthful offenders have an opportunity to rebound in the event they find themselves involved with the justice system for less serious, non-violent offenses. If elected, I will implement restorative, fair, and balanced justice.
The criminal justice system must incorporate the science of brain development, and its impact on behaviors into crime reduction strategies. The failure to adequately serve youthful offenders is something we as a community can not afford to continue. Putting Clayton County at the forefront of the important task of serving our young people by employing best practice strategies designed to address the needs of both the community and the accused. Equipping participants with the life-skills and tools to allow them to lead productive lives while simultaneously improving community safety, strengthening the workforce, and improving educational outcomes allowing young people to remain in school.
Additionally, I recognize the need for new leadership, and a new vision for Clayton County, to bring fresh new ideas to reality. It is my ultimate desire to bring positive change to Clayton County. The belief that one can continue to do the same thing, and benefit from a different, favorable result is the definition of insanity. Let’s stop the insanity, Elect Deitra Butler Judge for Superior Court!
Due process, equity, and fairness are among the fundamental requirements in any system of justice. But, in many Clayton Clayton County Superior Courtroom they are absent. I am running to restore these rights, integrity, and respect to our system of justice. We can no longer afford to allow corruption and mismanagement to run amok. When men belief their power is absolute and that they own the people's seat, corruption is also absolute.
We must make a concerted effort to teach voters to vote based on the issues and not based on friendship or incumbency. We must also convince the masses that their vote does matter and impress upon them importance of casting their ballot, in every election! We have to make a concerted effort to help voters understand the importance of voting for the candidate whose vision most closely aligns with their own, and that most beneficial to the community. Incumbency alone is an insufficient reason to cast a ballot for anyone. Voter must also be taught the importance of familiarizing themselves with the issues on the ballot so that are able to make informed decisions.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and operating in secret is the enemy of accountability. We must increase transparency, identify those who are not acting in the best interest of the people, and remove those so identified. One bad actor is one too many
